Community Allotment – Fun in the Sun! Community Allotment – Fun in the Sun!Congratulations to all those staff, volunteers and trainees that contributed to the development of the allotment in the week of the 21 May 2007. This high team effort backed by a generous donation from Ashingby Aggregates has progressed the infrastructure of the allotment and enthused those involved on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the week after the fun and games, the cabin was broken into and several valuable items were stolen, however, we refuse to let this dampen our enthusiasm for the project and well done to Sue for organising the weather. There is still plenty of work for idle hands at the allotment, volunteer now before Sue gets to you! IndexDickinson DeesAs corporate social responsibility partners, we are continuing to build up linkages with Craig and his team. Dickinson Dees staff have contributed time to Petch Street, the allotment and sponsoring our table at the ASC awards. Two of Dickinson Dees finest are mentoring Alan and Tom through the Bronze and Silver Youth Achievement Awards over the coming months. If anybody has any further suggestions of how we can utilise Dickinson Dees, please speak to Carl or Lawrence. IndexBangalore – Community Building VenturesAs you will be aware, Campus and its partners (READ Centre Bangalore and Renton – Scotland) helped build a classroom and office at the Jamboo Savari Dinae School in Southern Bangalore. The school serves the families of slum dwellers in the south of Bangalore. Staff here have agreed to donate a small amount each month towards the school project. In fact, the money we contribute through these donations will support two teachers at the school – which is a fantastic effort from those involved. IndexChampagne and DodgemsSeveral members of staff, committee members and guests attended the Association for Sustainable Communities Award event held in London on the 7 June 2007. Unfortunately, we did not win the award, but should take pride in getting to the final short-listing. The champers crew had to put up with free drinks, free food, free funfair and Chris Kemp all night. What we did learn is that some projects drink more champagne than others do. IndexAdminAdmin staff would like to thank everyone for their patience during the re-vamp of the Terastation. It is now completed and hopefully easier for everyone to use.
