International Links

Throughout the development of Community Campus we have forged and developed a healthy network of international linkages.

Since 1992, when we attended the Third Working for Common Wealth conference based around people centred development, we have maintained our involvement with COMMACT (Commonwealth Association for Local Action and Economic Development), who organised the conference. COMMACT brings together those people and agencies working in both the developed and less developed Commonwealth countries. We learn from each other, those working in less developed countries have vast experiences of tackling economic disadvantage that can be applied to disadvantaged communities in the developed world.Kerala Project - India

We have taken part in a further 4 international conferences (Craigmillar – Scotland 2000; Brussels 2001; Germany 2002 and Liverpool 2004). The Chair of the organisation, Chris Kemp, took part in the COMMACT exchange programme to India in 2006 and the organisation was part of the network that hosted two Indian colleagues in 2001, showing them local developments in the UK.

We are now working on developing a small housing project in India with other COMMACT partners.
